The Weekend Market

The drive back to Chiangmai took us almost 1 hour and a half. I dosed off for a few minutes and was awaken by an sms from my sister informing me that they had already touched down at KLIA...back from their umrah trip. Alhamdullilah on their safe trip....

And as for my remaining agenda in Chaingmai....there was still the weekend market to venture. And not to mention a revisit to the night market again.

Tee and Yu Pin dropped us off at our hotel. We said our good-byes to Yu Pin...and not forgetting a "nice" tip for her.

We agreed earlier that we shall go to the night market after this. So we went up to our room, put our shopping bags aside, freshen up a little and in no time we were out agian.

We asked the people around us where was the weekend market....and we got all sorts of replies to our question.

So...we decided to just walk around. Next thing we knew, we stopped at a shop selling luggage. Muni had wanted to get a new midsized luggage bag. I had something similar in mind too. We saw the LV luggage bags during our night market rounds. However, they didn't seem too "inviting".

This particular shop where we stopped at, had some very "handsome" looking Swiss Army luggage bags. After a great deal of bargaining, we settled with two Swiss Army luggage bags. One small one for me and Muni got herself the midsized bag.

While we made our "damage" inside the shop, Jupe also had made her "damage" outside the shop. She got a Diesel sling bag...a present for her son Hafiz.

So...we were all very happy. Don't have to worry of possiblities having to pay for excess baggage. We can now redistribute the things we got into the new bags. And the best part now was..we can still do more shopping. There will be lots of space in the new bag...heh.heh...whatever lah nak justify the shopping!!!

After getting the bag, we walked back to the hotel with two new luggage bags. The doormen just smiled at us when they opened the door for us. Well...I guess this was a common thing that they see. Hotel guests..all ladies...did too much of shopping...and got new bags!!! But for us..it was all giggles all the way back up to the room.

So...after that stint...at the lobby we asked the concierge how to get to the weekend market. The girl told us..take the red cab. Well..ok that was easy.

We crossed the road and in just a few minutes we hailed down one empty cab and was on our way to the weekend market. Someone should capture the looks on our happy faces...

The Weekend market begins at Thapae Gate. The streets were blocked from traffic and local craftmen lined the streets with their products.

There was just too much to see and too long of a walk. We spent almost a good 2 1/5 hours there. Got very pretty interesting stuffs from handicrafts to bedsheets to beaded handphone pouches. By the time we got to the end of the this particular street..we decided to call it a quit. It was dark and my feet was aching badly. We hailed down a red cab again and asked the driver to take us to our hotel.

On the way back...we saw more weekend bazaars and we just shook our heads.!!!
