Whilst doing research on the Internet earlier today, I stumbled upon an article which pretty much describes my situation at this present time.
"To become traumatised, all that needs to happen is to endure an event during which we feel powerless, whilst simultaneously having a threat to our survival. Often, during these events, we also feel isolated and we do not have the physical and/or emotional resources to deal with the situation."
And I have most of the symptoms of post trauma effects shown below.
• Fast heart beat and sudden increase of body temperature
• Stress and high anxiety levels
• Indigestion
• Sleep disorder
• Sudden hunger or thirst or loss of appetite
I really hope I can snap out of this rut I am in FAST coz the feeling is really, really horrible :(

and you are up late! It must have been traumatic kay, and you should take it easy. When our house was broken into some years back, i couldnt sleep most nights and i'd walk to the window to see if there's anyone outside. I hope this will pass and take care.
Aunty Kay,
Perhaps you could transfer that anxiety into something positive. Like, taking care of a family member who's as traumatised as you? By taking responsibility for someone else, and comforting him/her, you're actually doing a self healing process.
Ooops...Angelina sounds like a shrink, no? If all else fails, come to Angelina. SHe'll give you plenty of TLC. purrrrr...meow!
Kay, I guess it helps that you've recognised what it is so you can deal with it a lot better. As Cat says lending mutual comfort to one another in your family should help. Perhaps a majlis kesyukuran could give some sense of closure to the whole episode? *hugs* :)
Lets huddle and hug each other Kay..I'm with you all the way..we'll get out of this depressing rut and will come out chirping happily soon!!
Hey Kay,
No wonder women r from Venus & man r from Mars. U experienced this as traumatised but I felt exactly the same whenever I fall in love or infatuated by the charm of a woman…kekeke;
Checklist;
Feeling powerless
Threat to survival (& freedom)
Do not have the physical &/or emotional resources to deal with the situation.
And all those associated symptoms that u mentioned not forgetting acting silly too. Then this song will come to mind, playing in my head ;))
This Guy In Love
All the same, hope u recover from your trauma & I better "never fall in love again"….(hmmm Bobby Gentry??)
Cheers,
Tommy
P/S – Seeing Karen Carpenter in that clip brought a tears to my eyes :))
Dear Kay,
I really hope that you'd be ok soon. Like Kak Teh, I was also traumatised when my house was broken into twice. Took me a long while to sleep peacefully at night. Then we decided to eliminate some of our fears by installing an alarm system. If you still fear of the thought of a recurrence of fire, why don't you install a fire alarm in the house? I'm sure that could help to ease some anxieties your family is feeling at the moment.
Hang on there ok. Insyaallah time will be the healer.
Dear Kak Teh,
That queasy in the stomach feeling comes back off and on every time I walk pass the area that caught fire. Most nights I have been awake way till very late, pacing up and down between our living room and the kitchen area, listening to any funny sounds.
Somehow the peace & quiet had allowed me time to reflect - do some muhasabah diri, tahajjud and zikir. Rasa tenang di hati, mungkin this is the hikmah, wallahualam
Dear CatIS,
Hummpppp…I’d definitely give your suggestion a good thought. Self healing process yes? Cleaver girl, you :)
Angelina now wears many hats, yes? Good company for your Mama, the bill collector, the apple picker, the otak-otak sniffer, just to name a few here.
So, if ever I TER-pergi ke Sydney, would you be my company to go visit the Three Sisters? *wink*
Dear Zen,
Thanks for the hugs, dapat dirasakan dari USJ1 ni :)
Yes, I’m working on it - channeling the “chi” into something positive. When thinking about it, there are others who are worst off than me, and they are coping just fine. And here I am allowing the whole experience “eat” me up.
Work has started to pile up, in a way, I’m glad coz I wouldn’t have too much time to layan my perasaan.
Gotta wait a bit on the majlis kesyukuran dulu. The fire peeps have not allowed us to clean up the mess. I hope to bring the repair guys in sometime next week. InshaAllah, lepas everything dah settle, I’ll have one.
Dear Mamasita,
Okay...today I'm okay dah. Had my curry laksa for lunch; signs that I am my normal self again :)
When you are around, me no sedeh dah!! Thank you...thank you :) :)
Aunty Kay,
Kecik tapak tangan (memang kecik pun), Olympic Park, Blue Montains, DFO, Paddy's Market saya tadahkan. Jangankan Three Sisters, Three Brothers, Three Grumpy Old Men pun boleh visit. Lepas tu kita main masak-masak, tau! Dapur kita letrik, so takde api. No trauma, OK? purrrr....meow!
kay, zikirs are the most wonderful thing. Last weekend our ustaz told us (which must be common knowledge to thers already) that the surah alam nasyrah five times after every prayer is good untuk melapangkan dada. Indeed that is what the tafsir says. I have been doing that too apart from others. But before this comment box gets to be a ceramah where others might misconstrue that kak teh cuba nak jadi ustazah, let me take the risk and also tell you that ayat seribu dinar is also a gem . Am sure you know that already. Take care Kay, we all have our own cabaran.
Dear Tommy,
What's LOVE gotta do with it? (as in Tina Turner's) Heh..heh...love the song; that song reminds me of those days when I used to cycle pass this boy whom I had a crush on when I was 12 (I started young....heh...heh..)
Okay..okay...you got me smiling again. Thanks bro :)
If Karen Carpenter is yours, my tearjerker is John Denver's Sunshine On My Shoulder.
Sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy
Sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry
Sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely
Sunshine, almost always - makes me high
Dear MTTNM,
Both hubby & I have a list of items, the MUST have in the house now, and fire alarm is top in the list.
We have also listed out sequence of events that happened prior to the fire, and there are one or two that we could narrow it to. However, due to the confidentiality of things I can't disclose details here. (which is actually the main cause of my worry.....)
I'm all buried with work now, so tired too. Hopefully dozing off won't be a problem after this :)
Dear CatIS,
I'm all SMILES now. Rasa nak take the first flight out to SYD :)
Nanti kalau kita datang, kita bagi tau eh. Mana tau kita boleh masak brain-brain together, with FRESH daun kadok from my garden. Ohhh...I am so tempted to sneak in those kadoks pass thru Aussie Immigrations. I got magic you know. Managed to do that disappearing act at Perth Airport last time..heh..heh :)
Dear Kak Teh,
Thanks a million Kak, and you are no ustazah lah. Sharing is the most beautiful thing Kak :)
I am aware of surah alam nasyrah but tak tau abt ayat seribu dinar. Will try it. We have been reciting the "4 kuls" every night at the affected area. So far, doing that has managed to calm us too. InshaAllah, kita usaha, and He will permudahkan dan buka jalan untuk kita.
kay, ayat seribu dinar has the most calming effect on me. I am thoroughy addictee to it . Kita bertakwa dan berserah hanya kepada Allah. Pls give me your email again as I'd like to recommend something else to you.
ps...dua ayat terakhir Al-baqarah juga sangat berguna, Allah tak akan membebankan kita dengan apa-apa yang Dia fikir kita tak boeh tanggung.
Dear Kak Teh,
Email is kay_noor@yahoo.com
I must share this with others at home too. Alhamdulillah, the children understand this test He has on us. I'm open with them about what happened and how we are to pull thru this difficult times together.
Will check my email for more words from you. Thanks Kak....thanks so much.

Dear Tommy,
It is sad, don't you think so, what happened to KC & JD? They both have such beautiful voice, no match to what we have we today.
I'm also into Air Supply. You remember them?

lyana
Dear Lyana,
I'm better now, Alhamdulillah. Trying not to think so much about what happened.
