Ohhhh…it was purely my carelessness. If only I hadn’t left it laying on the bed. If only I had placed it back into its case. If only I hadn’t rushed to have my bath this evening. If only….if only…if only….but it’s too late now.
I feel so down in the dumps. How could I not be?? My jade bangle….I innocently dropped it and it is now broken. I was white in the face when it went fell flat on the floor and broke. I could have kicked myself for not being focused. My mind was far, far away. Issues in the office, my upcoming trip and my preparations…ahhh all these have been creating so much distractions to my otherwise calm evening.
The light green stone was a purchase during my RT trip to Chaingmai two years ago. Obviously, it has quite a sentimental value attached to it. Nissa says it’s bad luck when one’s jade is broken. Ohhh….I really hope, it’s just a superstition and I’ll be spared any ill fates and ruinous mishaps. I’m non believer on superstition, for I believe it is in Allah we should place out fate. He gives and he takes. So who are we to deny something that was destined to happen.
Perhaps I should take it to the jeweller and see if it could be fixed. From Google, I read that broken jades could be cured using special cement. Ooohhh…..I really hope this could be done. Otherwise, I’ll have to go look for a replacement….and I hate so much doing this.
I feel rotten already just thinking about it. Can someone help me? What should I do????

Kay, my deepest sympathies. I lost my first jade pendant in 1978 when i was renting a room in Penang. I was heartbroken. It had been a long time since I last thought about it...until your post.
I hope you can get it fixed.
kakak, it would only bring bad luck sebab dulu (and even sekarang) jade ni kan kebanyakannya mahal, so bila pecah kepala pun asyik sedih sebab duit terbang, terus tak focus nak go through work and other daily routines hence mishaps mudah berlaku.
i think la kan. heh heh
yeah, i hope you can get it fixed too, kalau tak kena pi balik la Chiangmai to get the same bangle... Nanti kalau dapat fixed, do tell us ek??? dah dah jangan cedih cedih cangat otey...*hug hug*
Aduhhh, Kay! You brought back painful memories of my own...
I bought a jade bangle in Vientianne when I was with Thai Tourism Board and had to take a group of journalists to cross (then brand new) Friendship Bridge connecting Thailand and Laos.
A beautiful green and white piece, not very expensive (only USD100), tapi sentimental value = priceless. Then I accidentally dropped it ten years later. menangis, beb!
I'm going to Chiang Mai this July. I can get another one for you. I know it won't be the same, but if makes you feel better, why not?
Kak kAY,
SO sorry to hear that. From what I heard, yes it can be fixed. U need to go to chinese store yg jual kristal & jade la kot.In beijing banyak la that kind of factory, boleh la next time around u tour ke sana ye
Dear Kay
Aiyohhh how can you be so careless mah. I saw you wearing it last weekend and that is the last time I saw it? Oh no. I plan to write something related to this in my next post. Tunggu ok. Unbelievable!
Dear Kak Teh,
Thank you...for your kind words.
Yes...I hope it can be fixed too. You know the last time something broke, a bad incident actually happened. Maybe it was just some coincidence. Ahhh I hate to even think about it :(
RKM,
Yah..I had similar thoughts as how you put it. Dah lah broken kan..pas tu..sure dalam kepala nak pikir...hai..kat mana lah aku nak pi cantum balik bende alah ni. Hence otak melayang ke lain...and terjadi lah perkara-perkara yang tak diingini. Tu yang bad segala omen mendatang tu kot.
Touch wood, I pray tak de lah perkara yang tak baik related to my broken bangle. Yang sedey nyer anakku si mulut ala-ala laser tu, idak ler sedey bersama-sama Mommy nyer ni. Member leh put the hard fact to me. Haii..lah budak!!
I will try to get it fixed. Am giving myself sometime to cool off. Let's hope I tidak ternampak any jade bangle sesiapa in these next few days. Kalu nampak, mau akak kau ni...meleleh berjuraian air mata kot.
Kak Puteri,
So sorry if this entry transported you back into time. I was in denial at first when I saw the bangle broken.
I have asked some of my Chinese friends about places where I could get it fixed. Have some lead and perhaps over the weekend, I'll go over to see if something could be done. Am keeping my fingers crossed.
MrsN,
Ohh...thank you, thank you so much for the offer. I'll let you know ok. But I wanna try get it fixed first. Replacement is my last option, nakkk jugak yang ituuuuu...uhukkkkkk :(
p/s Kalu nak tips abt Chiangmai, lemme know. Will be glad to share with you :)
Dear Desert Rose,
Thanks for the tip. I thought of some crystal / batu-batu shops at Amcorp Mall. Will bring it over this weekned. Cuma tak larat nak go thru the drilling....haiya...macamana bolehhh picah, ini tatak bagus lorrr. Sure punyer, leh dengaq dah ah soh tu dok letiaq kat akak ni. But then, self inflicted kan, so...terpaksa lah panasss telinga jap.
Dear TM,
Yess lorr...I had the bangle on over the weekend during the kenduri. Haiyaaaa.....nak jadi, nak wat camne. Pakcik di rumah belum tahu lagi. Ohhh mendengar bebelan dr dia, will be another panas telinga session. I can almost hear his words now. Just hope he doesn't stalk in the blog today. I got Nissa's to keep zipped. But you never know lah kan, innocently she may just blurt it our to her Daddy.
Ohh...similar post?? Errr....why am I getting not so good vibes from this???
Ala Kak Kay, sorry to hear about it. It must have affected you so much. Maybe try to fix it if you can la...take care ye kak!
Psst..Kay? Toksah percaya that kind of superstition ok? Applicable kat bangsa lain jer!
Biar jade mahal pecah, janji benda yang lebih berharga sentiasa selamat sejahtera..don't bother..let it go! Its just a piece of jade..ada rezki lebih buy another k?
Hi Kak Kay,
Don't be too hard on yourself... Not your fault at all. I once lost the bracelet HB gave for the "batal air sembahyang" ceremony. It was really frustrating but when mentioned it to him, he simply said "Takpa lah tak de rezeki..". I guess it applies :-) Take care.
Dear Bella,
I feel better already...much thanks to the crazy work schedule. Didn't think about it much. Yess getting it fixed is in the plan :)
Thanks for dropping by yah :)
Mamasita,
Memang tak percaya sangat these superstitions. But...ishyyy syaitan tu dok cuba je nak mengganggu gugat iman by time and time again making me think about the whole incident. Lucky thing I was very busy at work today. So not much time to be in doldrums. Yess we move on, it's just some rock lah kan :)
Dear Ja,
Thanks for your concern. I feel better today. Work helped me pull thru the day. So by the time dah gelak-gelak and made jokes about the whole incident, I didn't feel too bad dah. Memang a clear cut "dah tak de rezeki" case.
Oh..I'm really sorry to hear that.
About 2 months ago a Filipino fren of mine was showing us her jade bangle, a gift from an ex, which of course has a lot of sentimental value attached to it. She was taking it off when it terlucut and fell on the floor. Terus terpatah. I felt so sad for her. Iya-iya dia nak tunjuk kat kita orang, it got broken pulak. Aisey... But maybe that is a good omen. Maybe it's time for her to forget the ex. :-)
As for you, I surely hope you can get it fixed. If not, take up MrsN's offer to buy a new one in ChiangMai in July.
My eldest sist pun suka pakai jade. When I asked her, kenapa jade dia tak hijau gelap? Dia kata lagi lama you pakai lagi gelap warna dia. Is it true?
Feel sorry for you & hope you can get it fixed...
Sooo sorry to hear of your loss... I remember us buying the bangle in ChiangMai... o.. what a trip..
Hope you can get it fixed else we have to make a trip to Chiang Mai or to Hanoi to get the transparent bangle ...??
psssstttt......
a reason to buy a new one ( or two maybe? ). tee hee hee....
Madam Tai Tai,
I also read somewhere that if something happens to the jade, it simply means that the jade gets "hurt" while covering/protecting the owner. Perhaps this is true in yr friend's case.
Today is day 2 without the jade bangle. It doesn't feel too bad anymore. Yess, I definately am sending it to get fixed. Will update in part two of the broken jade saga :)
Madam Principal,
There are testimonials by jade owners that jade grows with time. So the longer you have it on you, the greener the stone will get. Err...mine tak sempat nak transform, sudaaa picaaaahhhh.....
Dear Muni,
Ahhh...how could one forget that Chiangmai trip. The elephant & boat rides and walking around half the city to do shopping and more shopping :)
Hehh..hehh...had the same thoughts in mind. You know how it is with me lah kan...there's got to be "something from somewhere". SO I cannot be having in my keep the "BROKEN jade from Chaingmai" next to the "onyx from HK". Soo...shall WE go and search for "that" transparent Vietnam bangle?? Heh..hehee....just one of my excuses for RT eh?? :)
IBU,
Memang sedang bermain-main di kepala ku dan benak hati ku untuk get new one :) Am thinking of a good sob story to tell the Finance Minister.
Oh Kay...!!! I experienced the same thing two years ago! It's a gift from my staff. Lovely - I sayang sangat! Baru pakai 2-3 hari...pas tu pi bukak dalam bathroom! Adoii...pang!!!! Depan mata dia jatuh atas lantai and...sigh..
Tapi it is believed, kalau jade or any other crystal is broken, then it has exhausted whatever power it has on you. Kira dah selesai tugas lah tu! So, biarlah ia berlalu pergiii...uhuk uhuk;-)
Take care, ya sis?!
Ms Hart,
You too?? Uhuk..uhuk kan...I think I'm pretty much over the whole thing.
Yup...biarlah ia berlalu pergi...(ehh..macam u tau-tau je what what next posting is going to be!!)
