School's Out

School is out for two weeks and we haven't the faintest plan on what to organize for the children. Nissa mentioned like four times in the last two days that three of her close friends are away overseas on holiday. One is in Sydney (and they keep in touch via FB!! Haaa...tu dia, budak-budak sekarang. Pi holiday pun still boleh ber FB!!), another close friend is in South Africa for World Cup and the third girl pi mana tah, I pun tak ingat!!

Mommy here is somewhat stressed when getting such updates. We have plans for a family holiday, but it will only come sometime towards year end. I tell you it's really tough trying to be diplomatic in providing answers to such questions - "My friend is currently on her way holidaying in bla bla bla destination. And where are we going Mom?"

My simple answer would be, "Errr...rumah Uwan in Seremban, can ah?" (as I give that "Daddy & I do not grow money on trees...yarrr!!" stare)

Looks like I have to come up with a holiday plan pronto. Now, what shall it be??

Kalau zaman I was a little girl dulu, gi Mimaland (and pedal non stop that funny boat around the lake) or the Lake Gardens and then a quick stop over at Fitzpatrick's Supermarket for ice cream and chocolates dah memadai. For kids these days, I doubt that an itinerary as simple as that would tick them. But I shall try. Perhaps this weekend, we try and click with nature ker... umppp....that would not be too bad kan?

What say you, any suggestion on a quick holiday plan?

Wowie..kids nowadays..affluent parents can la afford oversea holiday.

I'm just going to Kuantan and then Cherating. Genting tu, if you stay the night kat hotel kat atas tu ok la kot, can go on the rides in the evening. We went there a few years ago during school holidays, beratur berjam2!

Enjoy!

Rumah Uwan pun boleh. Over there is more like hotel. Got 3 bibiks!! Free food some more. Astro also got. Familiar friends, tak usah cakap lah. Where can find if you go holiday elsewhere?

Dear Kak Ezza,

Genting ka? Saya gayat nak panjat bukit tinggi...LOL.

As much as possible we wanna avoid crowds, and Genting during school hols can be a challenge.

Last-last nanti camping kat depan rumah je..heh...heh.

Dear Jah@Busybody,

Ohhh....that's the story with kids on my side of town. Parents yg penat nak kena defuse the anxiety.

Cherating is nice kan. We'll have to see how things go. Difficult it is to balance work, kids, fun time and home. Hope I can come up with something really soon :)

Thanks for dropping by :)

Dear Zai,

Ronda sakan!! Cherating with its beautiful beaches is always a freshing place to spend with the family. Getting there is not so bad now, with the East Coast highway kan :)

Well for holiday maker yg tegar like us, kah kah kah, of course we know that musim cuti sekolah ni, vacation dalam negara sometimes lagi mahal than pi over sea since its peak season n surge charge time by hotelierskan so so so so....

This gonna sound mcm hampeh sket I know but we r going seberang tambak next week to visit the newly open Universal Studio but actually mommy yg tidoq x lena thinking of the Great S'**** Sale itewww....So membunuh 2 ekor burung dgn seketul batu lah kira nya, bleh?

Wah manyak susah to be a parent in the 21s century kan? Not cheap to raise children nowadays, especially when it comes to keeping them entertained, schooling, social well being blah3.

Zaman dulu kita all were very cheap or were we silly then not exposed to the www....hahaha. Best juga lah, a family that holiday together, stay together. Have fun ripping your hair off & greying what's left of them :)))

We built ourselves a pondok by the sea and grew dwarf coconut trees for fresh drink. And here our grandchildren are now enjoying themselves, flying kites on the beach, picking coconuts, eating lots and lots of fish fresh from the sea - doing maths with grandpa in the evening to beat their brain. And so this is how we have helped to solve our children's problem with their children's holidays.

kay_leeda said...

Dear Principal,

Personally, I feel Genting is not a good choice for a family holiday during school break. So crowded up there.

Sama lah kita yer...u bertapa di SB and me bertapa in SA :)

kay_leeda said...

Dear DR,

Yessss....u amat-amat memahami ku. Mengatur percutian dlm negeri semasa school hols really gotta be done carefully. Silap-silap budget BURST!!

I'm sure your children will enjoy Universal Studios. Nanti cerita eh...mana lah tau if I ketandusan ideas on family hols, I pun bakal memilih UniStudios :)

kay_leeda said...

Dear Tommy,

Yess....you got that very right!!! Really demanding them kids these days. Us parents hv to be extra careful with what we promised them. They'll remember our promises.

Yess... KIDS = MONEY. But it's okay lah, what ever we give them we consider as sedekah lah.

And the final yess....my hair since long ago already grey :(

Dear Al-Manar,

Your children are so lucky to have such opportunities . There's nothing more rewarding than spending time discovering nature and appreciating God's great gifts to us.

Thank you for dropping by Sir.
