Latest Addition

Latest addition?? What could it be?

If your guess is another cat for Nissa (oohhh yes, she's been hinting at me to get her one for her upcoming birthday) , tettttt.....guess is incorrect. I did meet a beauty at the pet shop, however. But I had to say NO to that heart breaker - a three month old tabby Bengal.

The one I saw was something like this (pic from Google). Had that exotic and sultry face....
Lady at the shop said, "tak mahal...she's only RM1,500." (and I gulped....)

So who....what is this latest addition then?

Undeniably, a heart stealer - Mohd Nasiruddin our youngest nephew. This bundle of joy belongs to my brother and Mom's fourteenth grandchild.

Nasiruddin with TM's Shah during the "gu-gu-ga-ga-get-to know-you-baby"

Some of the guests at the kenduri

We had his kenduri aqiqah at Mom's house in Seremban last weekend. Weather was hot, food was marvelous especially the mutton curry Mom made. Dessert was a mouth-watering affair. There were three; dessert no 1 was Mom's close friend's tapai pulut, no 2 was Makcik Rozi's famous kueh kochi and dessert 3 was Zai's, sumptuous fruit tartlets!!

And I ate like no tomorrow.....like always. Came home to Shah Alam that evening extra full, tired but extremely delighted :)

Aunty Kay,
My heart was rooting for that tortoiseshell Bengal....if you're lucky, like my Mum, you may come across a hybrid Bengal by the roadside (that's my bro Tom!). But the baby is cute too, you know, in a human sort of cute. Please convey our congratulations to the proud parents. purrr....meow!

Kay..I am really in awe when such doa/zikir gatherings are held for newborns.
We all tak pernah buat for our children nor nieces/nephews/grandchilds.
Maybe we'll start doing so bila Azra and Hakim ada babies..

BTW..even though cards belum hantar keep yourself and ABE free on 3rd and 4th April (Shah Alam) and 17th April(Kuantan)..cakap kat TM yea..

Dear Cat-in-Sydney,

I'll keep my fingers crossed and my eyes wide opened when I walk around now. Them Bengals have that wild yet luscious persona.

Yeah, Nasiruddin makes all of us excited. And he makes us (these oldies..yg dah tak mo beranak dah) feel young again :D :D

Oh btw, could you guess what is possibly happening to Chitty? She woke up this morning all so angry and started "geram" and biting Nissa. Breakfast yes, her walks also yes, but she's just not manja self. I wonder if I am being overly protective or that's just normal for cats? Translate to me why her purrr is not like yours okay :) Thanks. You have a good weekend. WE here choti lagi... :)

Dear Mamasita,

I don't recall if our parents ever did such doa gatherings for us. The aqiqah yes, but cukur jambul...errr tak ingat pulak (well, I was tiny then kan, mana nak ingat nyer) My late father started the ball rolling with Faris. I still have pictures of him looking all so puzzled during the Marhaban. I pun masa tu tak tau much, first anak lah kata kan.

Ohhh...hari bahagia Hakim & Azra is getting close. Mak pengantin dah ready?? Dato dah ready speech for reception nanti? Heh...heh...I know you will have everything under control :)

Yes, will block those dates. Must tell ABE to block his too. Actually I yg lagi busy dr dia nyer pun. Just let me know if you need any assistance. Will be more than happy to do it for you :)

Aunty Kay,
Answers from Dr Angelina Jolie-Dolittle:
1. Has Chitty been spayed? If she's about 5-6 mths old, please take her to the vet.
2. With reference to (1), she could be in heat. Gatal, mengerenyam nak kawin....hahahah...
3. If you've done (1), she could be sick....tummy ache, flu, etc
4. Cats have long memories too, someone could have done something bad to her and she's having her revenge. This could be her defence mechanism.
5. Alah...betina, biasalah moody!
purrr....meow!

Dear Angie,

I am waiting for an appointment with the vet to get her potong-ed. Yes, I suspected that too - you know that "gatal" feeling and she could only take it up on Nissa..heh..heh.

She's been spending time with Mercy too. Mercy tu biasa lah, perasan DIVA and doesn't want to layan others much. But Mercy tu tino...so Mercy tak mo lah kang ader gossip-gossip liar yg kata she prefers kaum sejen*s (tetttt...let's stop here ok...coz Princess Dolittle might be reading the comments!!)

Duhhh...Aunty fenin lah dengan budak-budak at home ni...Thanks for your advice. Let's see how Chitty behaves later today. Or else, I'm gonna hv that talk with her. Errr...she faham ker..or should I purrr too???

Aunty Kay,
Problem is, if she's already in heat, tak boleh potong coz her uterus would be bengkak and there'll be massive bleeding. Have to wait until it's over, which can take about 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, don't let any jantan yang dah akil baligh come near her. Or you'll become nenek again...
Tom's vet in Sri Hartamas is very good. Last time, my Mama said cost about RM200 to get Nicole *snip snip*. Also, UPM has a kelinik kembiri service, hopefully still ada. My Mama's friend who has like a mini SPCA at her house takes her cats to UPM. Only cost RM10!!! purrr...meow!

Dear Cat-in-Sydney,

Thanks, you've been so much help. Aunty mana lah ader much experience dgn you all ni kan :)But I love you guys nuts!!

Okay will wait for Chitty to habis "meroyan" and then take her to the vet. Must also check the UPM clinic you mentioned. Nooo...I don't want to be a Grandmama again.

Hi Kay,

Congrats on the new addition to the family tree. Hey did u guys shave the baby head for this ceremony? I think the Chinese do too for the baby first month ‘birthday’ {'Moon Yik' – Full month}, u know the one where they give out red coloured dyed boiled eggs for the ceremony.

Awww the famous kuih kochi, now u really got me hungry for it.Will try get some tomorrow.

Have a great one.

Cheers,
Tommy

P/S – Tommy more careful what I write now that young Nissa is reading these comments too….hehehe…Hi kiddo, done your homework yet? :)

Oooooiii, belum pun seminggu kat sini dah teringin lauk kenduri dah...

kay_leeda said...

Dear Tommy,

Yeah...I guess you could consider the ceremony that we did for Nasiruddin similar to the full moon for Chinese. One of the practices is that we slaughter a goat and prepare a feast for neighbours, close friends & family. The goat will later be something of significant use for the baby in his after life.

It depends on the parents lah. Nak buat also can, tak buat pun ok. The aqiqah is an amalan sunat (not a compulsory practice) for us Muslims.

Kueh kochi you like?? They are my favourite!! Sad to say those kuehs sold at the shops are not as tasty anymore. My late grandma's were the best. I should learn how to make them from my mom, but...haiyaaa... I ada sedikit malas woo.

You have a good weekend bro. Hey Chap Goh Meh this weekend right?

p/s Nissa says hi...she's down with a cold, homework's all done and now snuggling with Daddy...urgghh this youngest girl of mine...so manja!!

Kay, what a handsome handsome cat! The lady is half right when she said it's not expensive. I was at Pets Wonderland last night and all their cats cost more than RM2,500. They are not even as exotic as this handsome fella.
