Oh Bulan.....

15 Ramadhan 1430H

Alhamdullilah we are halfway through. Observation of this holy month has been virtuous so far. The girls are coping well with their fasting, excited at iftaar but grumpy at sahur. There have been tensed moments when Nissa refused to take in anything more than her glass of Milo at sahur. Memang menguji kesabaran at times, but when we rationalized with her the importance of eating right while fasting, she'd bounce back to her normal self.

Earlier this evening, we went out to have a good look at the full moon. What we saw was simply dazzling.

Subahanallah.....so great, so powerful and so majestic Ya Allah, the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the universe.

oh bulan
jangan layan diriku lagi
pabila,
air mata membasahi pipi

To you Ya Rahman, we pray. Give us the strength and health for the successful completion of the month.

Kay, I attempted a shot at the full moon last night but didnt come out too well. I am trying again tonight and will certainly put it in the blog. I am hopng that people around the world can do this - we are enjoying the same beautiul creation of Allah, no matter where we are. Subhanallah!

Salam Ramadhan to you Kay. My whole family are "moonwatchers". When we see the moon looking so resplendent, we go "waaaaaahhhhh", and out come the cameras and maybe the telescope. I believe my hubby too captured some good shots earlier tonight. Insyaalah will share the pics, as Kak Teh suggested.

Kak Teh,

You saw it too? Indeed the moon was beautiful kan last night. Clear skies and good weather made it very visible. Terasa sangat syahdu nya Ramadhan.

Salams QoTH. We are no "moonwatchers" like you guys, I guess. It just so happened that my girls decided to spend some time outdoors while entertaining the cats :)

Yes, pls put pics of the moon on the blog, just as Kak Teh suggested. I wished I had a better camera. With what I have now, it's trial & error :)

Aunty Kay,
We're all gazing at the same moon whether in London, KL or Sydney. It's especially bright and beautiful here coz we don't have much cloud in the sky. No wonder poets of days gone by come up with heaps of moon-related prose.

Hi Cat-in-Sydney,

Cats look at the moon too? :) Must go ask my Manis & gang if they remembered doing so heh..heh.

Poets..ah..poets..you are so right about them and the moon.
Here's one I found by Robert Frost

The Freedom of the Moon

I've tried the new moon tilted in the air
Above a hazy tree-and-farmhouse cluster
As you might try a jewel in your hair.
I've tried it fine with little breadth of luster,
Alone, or in one ornament combining
With one first-water start almost shining.

I put it shining anywhere I please.
By walking slowly on some evening later,
I've pulled it from a crate of crooked trees,
And brought it over glossy water, greater,
And dropped it in, and seen the image wallow,
The color run, all sorts of wonder follow.

Enjoy the poem Cat :)
