Ne Me Quitte Pas

A new movie by Yasmin Ahmad will be out on 8 March 2007. The movie titled Muhksin features two interesting and talented newcomers, Sharifah Aryana as Orked and Mohd Syafie Naswip as Mukhsin.

The movie tagline is “Everyone has a first love story to tell.”

Ha..ha..I ain’t telling no first love story of mine…fat chance!! But what captured my attention most was a French song - Ne Me Quitte Pas that was featured in the movie.

Jacques Brel wrote the original French version "Ne Me Quitte Pas" (or Don’t Leave Me) of this song. He was born in Belgium and became one of France's most beloved and enduring musical figures as well as a composer of international renown.

Later Rod McKuen wrote English lyrics to the song and performed successfully. This song was made popular by Shirley Bassey and a few other singers.
